Everything homeowners and teen workers need to know about Lawn Teens.
Post your lawn care job in minutes — describe what you need, your address, and your budget. Local teen workers in your area will see the job and reach out to schedule. You pay securely through the app after the work is done.
Yes. Every worker goes through an application review before they can claim jobs. We verify their age, collect parental consent for workers under 18, and review their profile. Workers who receive complaints are flagged for admin review.
Lawn mowing, edging, leaf blowing, weeding, hedge trimming, mulching, garden cleanup, snow shoveling, and general yard cleanup. More services are added as our worker base grows.
Workers set their own quotes based on your job description. You can review the proposal before accepting — there's no obligation until you agree to a price.
Contact us through the app. We review all disputes and can withhold or refund payment if the work wasn't completed as agreed. You can also leave a review to help other homeowners.
Yes. All payments go through Stripe, the same payment processor used by Amazon and Shopify. Your card details are never stored on our servers.
You must be between 13 and 21 years old. Workers under 18 need a parent or guardian to complete a consent form during signup — this is required before you can start claiming jobs.
For most jobs, yes — you'll need a mower, trimmer, or whatever the job calls for. You can list the equipment you own on your profile so customers know what you can handle. Some customers have equipment they're happy to let you use — that's something to work out directly.
No. You work as an independent contractor — just like a DoorDash driver. You don't need a business license, LLC, or any special registration to get started. All you need is a bank account to receive payouts.
Once you complete a job and the customer confirms, payment is released to your Stripe account. You'll need to connect a bank account through Stripe during onboarding. Transfers typically arrive within 2 business days.
Yes — as an independent contractor, you're responsible for your own taxes. The IRS requires you to report all income. If you earn over $600 in a year, Stripe will send you a 1099-K form automatically. A good rule of thumb: set aside about 25–30% of each payment for taxes. We recommend asking a parent or tax professional for help filing.
Lawn Teens takes a 10% fee from each job to cover payment processing, the platform, and customer support. If a customer pays $100, you receive $90. This is shown clearly before you accept any job.
Completely. You choose which jobs to claim and when to work. There are no minimum hours, no shifts, and no boss. You work when you want.
We have a dispute resolution process. If you completed the work as agreed, we'll review the situation and advocate for your payment. Always take before and after photos — it's the best protection you have.
We're currently focused on the North Shore of Chicago. As our worker base grows, we'll expand to more neighborhoods. If you're in an area we don't cover yet, sign up anyway — we'll notify you when workers come to your zip code.
Yes. In the warmer months we handle lawn mowing, edging, and yard cleanup. In winter we offer snow shoveling and salting. Work slows in the off-season but never fully stops.
